Stefanishyna to be new Ambassador to US - Zhelezniak

MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced that Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration - Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna will be Ukraine's new Ambassador to the US.

He wrote about this in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Olha Stefanishyna will be Ambassador to the US," Zhelezniak wrote.

Rustem Umerov, who was considered for the post of Ambassador to the US, remains in Ukraine and will go to the National Security and Defense Council, the MP said.

"It is not yet known whether for the Secretary or the Deputy. Well, or as an another advisor to the President…," Zhelezniak added.

The MP emphasized that Washington did not approve Umerov's candidacy for Ambassador.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has removed a video recording in which all employees have a photo of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration - Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna on their phone screensavers.

The European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada has sent an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers demanding the resignation of the Vice Prime Minister for European Integration Olha Stefanishyna, as well as the dismissal of the head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency, ARMA) Olena Duma.
