China aimed laser at German military plane in Red Sea – German Foreign Ministry

The German government has accused the Chinese military of using a laser to target a German plane taking part in an operation to maintain security in the Red Sea, the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, July 8.

Berlin summoned the Chinese ambassador over the incident in the Red Sea.

"The Chinese military used a laser to target a German plane taking part in the EU operation ASPIDES. The threat to German personnel and the obstruction of the operation are completely unacceptable. The Chinese ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry today," the ministry said in a statement.
