Russia attacked Ukraine with 537 air targets at night. How air defense worked out?
On the night of Sunday, June 29, the military of the aggressor country of russia used 537 air attack means against Ukraine. Most of the enemy targets were shot down by the Ukrainian defenders, but there were also hits. This is stated in the message of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Thus, russia attacked Ukraine that night with the following:
- 477 Shahed attack UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions: Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo, Chauda. More than 250 of them were Shaheds;
- 4 Kinzhal Kh-47M2 aeroballistic missiles from the airspace of the Tambov Oblast;
- 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Voronezh Oblast and the TOT of Crimea;
- 41 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles from the Saratov, Kursk, Bryansk Oblasts;
- 5 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;
- 3 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Kursk Oblast.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., air defense neutralized 475 enemy air attack means, 249 were shot down by fire weapons, and 226 were lost by location. Namely:
- 211 enemy Shahed UAVs (other types of UAVs) were shot down by fire weapons, 225 were lost by location/suppressed by electronic warfare;
- 1 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile shot down;
- 33 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles shot down, 1 lost in location;
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles shot down.
Enemy air attack means hit in 6 locations, downed objects (fragments) fell in 8.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Sunday, June 29, F-16 pilot Maksym Ustymenko was killed while repelling a massive russian missile and drone strike.
