Trump will go to talks in Istanbul if putin is there – Erdogan
US President Donald Trump said he would go to peace talks between the leaders of russia and Ukraine if russian dictator vladimir putin comes there. His words were quoted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Reuters agency reported on Thursday, June 26.
Erdogan noted that he had a conversation with Trump about peace talks on Ukraine. According to him, Ankara wants to arrange talks between the leaders of Ukraine and russia in Istanbul. The Turkish President said that Trump agreed to participate if putin also agrees to come.
"If Russian President Vladimir Putin comes to Istanbul or Ankara to resolve the problem, then I will come too," Erdogan's office quoted Trump as saying.
The Turkish President stressed that they would establish appropriate contacts so that this meeting could take place "as soon as possible."
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that russia did not support any Ukrainian proposal to resolve the conflict.
On June 19, the president of the aggressor country, the russian federation, vladimir putin, announced russia's readiness for the next round of negotiations with Ukraine.
On June 21, US President Donald Trump said that Kyiv and moscow were making "little progress" on the peace process.
