Prosecutor's Office requests to dismiss Chernyshov

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) have filed a petition with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to remove Oleksii Chernyshov from the position of Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.

The SACPO and the NACB announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In addition, the SACPO also demands that the court impose the following obligations on Chernyshov:

- to appear upon each request to the detective, prosecutor, and court;

- to notify the investigator, prosecutor, or court of a change in his place of residence and place of work;

- not to leave the settlement in which he is located without the permission of the investigator, prosecutor, or court;

- to deposit his passport(s) for travel abroad with the relevant state authorities;

- to refrain from communicating with other suspects in the case and witnesses;

ADVERTISING

- to wear an electronic monitoring device.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the prosecutor's office is asking the court to set a bail of UAH 120 million for Minister of National Unity Oleksii Chernyshov. Chernyshov was informed of suspicion of abuse of office and obtaining illegal benefits in an especially large amount for himself and third parties. On June 16, Chernyshov reported that he was on an official visit to Austria. On June 18, journalist Mykhailo Tkach said that Chernyshov had not returned from a foreign trip. Recall, on June 16, Member of Parliament from the European Solidarity Oleksii Honcharenko reported, citing his own sources, that the NACB is preparing a suspicion directly against Chernyshov.
