Population deposits with banks grow by 0.8% to record UAH 1,266 billion in May

According to operational data, the volume of funds placed by individuals in bank accounts in hryvnia and foreign currency decreased by 0.8% to UAH 1,266.362 billion in May.

This is evidenced by the data of the National Bank, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Since the beginning of the year, the volume of deposits of the population in banks has increased by 4.4% from UAH 1,212.775 billion.

Population hryvnias deposits with banks decreased by 1.4% to UAH 835.029 billion in May.

At the same time, the volume of foreign currency deposits of the population in the hryvnia equivalent decreased by 0.4% to UAH 431.333 billion in the reporting month.

Deposits of legal entities (hryvnia and currency) in May decreased by 1% to UAH 1,485.439 billion.

The average interest rate on hryvnia deposits (monthly average) in the reporting month for legal entities grew by 0.2 percentage point to 9.9%, for individuals - grew by 0.4 percentage point to 11%.

The interest rate on currency deposits for legal entities was 0.7%, for the population - 1%.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024, the volume of deposits of the population in banks increased by 12.6% from UAH 1,078.346 billion.

In 2023, the volume of deposits of the population in banks increased by 16.5% from UAH 926.488 billion.

In 2022, population deposits with banks increased by 29.3% from UAH 719.418 billion.

In 2021, population deposits with banks increased by 6.8% from UAH 674.718 billion to UAH 720.932 billion.
