Sybiha to visit Rome and participate in Weimar+ meeting on June 12

Today, June 12, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will visit Rome to participate in a ministerial meeting in the Weimar+ format.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Thus, Sybiha will visit Rome at the invitation of his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani. It is indicated that in the Italian capital, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister will participate in a ministerial meeting in the Weimar+ format with the participation of colleagues from Italy, Germany, Britain, Spain, France, Poland, the EU foreign minister and the NATO secretary general.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the key topic will be joint efforts to restore a just peace, sanctions pressure on the aggressor and strengthening Ukraine. The ministers will also discuss ways to strengthen European security and preparations for the EU, G7 and NATO summits.

On the sidelines of the event, the minister will also hold a number of separate bilateral meetings.

Background: Weimar+ is a European alliance, first named in February 2025, that expanded the original Weimar Triangle regional alliance of France, Germany, and Poland to include additional major European powers such as the United Kingdom and Italy. The group was created in response to changes in United States policy toward the ongoing russia-Ukraine war under the Trump administration, including a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and russian president vladimir putin in which he excluded Europe from talks on Ukraine.
