Imports to Ukraine in 5 months significantly exceeded exports - by USD 14 billion

During January-May 2025, goods worth USD 31.3 billion were imported to Ukraine, and exports worth USD 16.9 billion were made.

The State Customs Service announced this on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

At the same time, taxable imports amounted to USD 23.8 billion, which is 76% of the total volume of imported goods.

The tax burden on 1 kg of taxable imports in January-May 2025 amounted to USD 0.51/kg.

The largest number of goods was imported to Ukraine from China – USD 6.5 billion, Poland – USD 2.9 billion and Germany – USD 2.6 billion.

The largest number of exports from Ukraine was to Poland – USD 2 billion, Turkey – USD 1.4 billion and Italy – USD 1 billion.

In the total volume of goods imported in January-May 2025, 68% were the following categories of goods:

- machinery, equipment and transport USD 11.9 billion;

- chemical industry products – USD 5.2 billion;

- fuel and energy – USD 4 billion.

The top three most exported goods from Ukraine included:

- food products – USD 9.7 billion;

- metals and products made from them – USD 1.9 billion;

- machinery, equipment and transport – USD 1.5 billion.

Over the 5 months of 2025, UAH 121.6 million was paid to the budget during customs clearance of exports of goods subject to export duties.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024, Ukraine imported goods worth USD 70.7 billion and exported USD 41.6 billion.
