Sybiha on russia's statement at UN Security Council: It's time to speak to them in language of sanctions and increased support for Ukraine

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on partners in response to a Vasily Nebenzya's statement at the UN Security Council meeting about his readiness to fight "as long as necessary" to speak to russia "in the language of sanctions and increased support for Ukraine."

Sybiha wrote about this on X, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Sybiha reacted to the fact that russian representative Vasily Nebenzya stated at the UN Security Council meeting that the aggressor state russia is ready to "continue and intensify military actions as long as necessary."

"When the whole world insists that it is time to immediately stop the killings and engage in constructive diplomacy, Russia uses the highest forums to spread such belligerent rhetoric," he emphasized.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called it a slap in the face by russia "to all those who stand for peace" - not only Ukraine, but also the US, European countries, China, Brazil and others.

"We demand a response to Russia's arrogant statements that undermine the peace process. We insist that pressure on Moscow be increased now. They do not understand normal behavior and diplomatic language; it is time to speak to them in the language of sanctions and increased support for Ukraine," Sybiha stressed.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 29, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov informed that Ukraine had conveyed to the russian side its vision of steps towards a ceasefire.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Heorhii Tykhyi stated that russia's reluctance to convey the "memorandum" to Ukraine indicates the probable presence of unrealistic ultimatums in it.
