Philip Morris builds modern shelter for local community and its employees for UAH 60 million
The company Philip Morris Ukraine opened a new modern shelter on the territory of the factory in the Lviv Region. It is designed for 170 people and will provide protection for both factory workers and local residents during air alerts or emergencies.
Investments in the project amounted to about UAH 60 million, the company's press service reported.
Philip Morris Ukraine specified that the shelter fully complies with all current requirements and safety standards and is designed for a comfortable stay of people for 48 hours. In particular, the space is equipped with a ventilation system using explosion-proof valves and air conditioning and an alarm and fire extinguishing system with backup power.
The shelters also have a water supply and sewage system, a heating system, radio broadcasting, telephone communication and video surveillance; places for rest and seating; a supply of water and food in case of a long stay.
The shelter is also equipped with the needs of people with disabilities. The premises include a medical corner, sanitary facilities, shower rooms and a kitchen area, Philip Morris Ukraine added.
"In the current conditions, the safety of our people is not just a requirement of the time, but also our responsibility. We open this shelter as further proof that caring for employees comes first for us. But this care is not only about comfort and protection, but also about faith in the country. We continue to invest in Ukraine, and these investments demonstrate our long-term strategy as an investment ambassador and support for the economy in martial law conditions," said the company's CEO Maksym Barabash.
Construction of the shelter began in September 2024 after the launch of a new factory, in which the company invested USD 30 million. Before that, the employees used a modernized shelter on the territory of the Lviv city territorial community, where the company invested approximately UAH 1.3 million.
