Education Minister Lisovyi admits that Ukrainian schoolchildren go abroad after 11th grade
Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi admitted that Ukrainian schoolchildren go abroad after the 11th grade, but added that this is not a mass phenomenon.
He stated this in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.
"I would not say that it is massive, but the trend is there. Of course, we have a number of ideas on how to mitigate such a negative trend without bringing it to the level of a threat," the minister said.
Lisovyi believes that parents take their children out for security reasons.
The minister also noted that there are cases when families with children return from abroad. There should be a place for such schoolchildren in Ukrainian schools.
"There are places for Ukrainian children who will return from abroad. Today we have a lot of understaffed schools. Schools are happy to take their children. There is no problem here at all, this is an absolutely correct policy," Lisovyi added.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers allow Ukrainians under the age of 25 to travel abroad to study at foreign universities.
At the same time, 15-17% of boys aged 18-22, who are studying for a bachelor's degree and who left under the student exchange program, did not return to Ukraine on time, but the Ministry of Education and Science does not plan to cancel the possibility of leaving yet.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education added that Ukraine does not plan to lower the mobilization age, so parents' concerns about the mobilization of 18-year-olds are irrational.
