Number of card transfers and their amounts down in Q1 - NBU
The number of card transfers and their amounts decreased in the first quarter.
This is stated in the NBU report, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that the share of non-cash transactions in the first quarter of 2025 in terms of amount was at the level of 65.2% in the total amount of transactions with payment cards, in terms of quantity - 95.2% (in the first quarter of 2024, these indicators were lower and amounted to 64.5% and 94.2%, respectively).
An analysis of the distribution of non-cash transactions by their types shows that in the first quarter of this year, the largest number of transactions using cards in terms of amount and quantity fell on payments in the retail network (48.8% and 72.9%, respectively).
1,521.4 million transactions were made there for the amount of UAH 523.6 billion.
Payment for goods and services on the Internet - 16.2% in amount and 14.4% in quantity.
Card-to-card transfers in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to less than a third in amount (28.1%) and less than a tenth in quantity (7.8%).
In the first quarter of 2024, they were 32.9% in amount and 8.9% in quantity.
In the reporting period, the average amount of one transaction was:
- in the retail network - UAH 344 (in the first quarter of last year - UAH 327),
- from a card-to-card transfer - UAH 1,845 (UAH 1,931),
- from payment for goods and services on the Internet - UAH 580 (UAH 541).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, new restrictions on card money transfers will come into effect in Ukraine from June 1, 2025.
The National Bank of Ukraine has decided not to extend the regulatory restrictions of UAH 150,000 per month for outgoing transfers (also known as P2P, C2C) for all accounts of individual customers opened in one bank to the accounts of other individuals.
In December 2024, Ukrainian banks, coordinated by banking associations, signed a Memorandum on ensuring transparency in the functioning of the payment services market.
Signatories the Memorandum commits to carry out customer transfers taking into account the implemented risk-based approach.
The National Bank cannot measure the number of "drops" and the extent of their abuse.
