Conversation with Trump. Putin said that russia "ready to work" on cessation of hostilities in Ukraine
Russian dictator vladimir putin said that the russian federation is supposedly ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum on a ceasefire and compromises that both sides should make. His words were quoted by the Associated Press on Monday, May 19.
After a two-hour conversation with US President Donald Trump, putin said that Moscow is "ready to work on the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine." According to him, russia and Ukraine will need to find compromises that will suit all parties.
"We agreed with Trump that russia will propose and is ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum on a future peace treaty from such positions as the principles of the settlement, the terms of concluding a peace agreement, which will include a possible ceasefire for a certain period of time if appropriate agreements are reached," putin said.
The russian dictator also called the conversation with Trump "very constructive" and noted that they are "on the right track."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 19, US Vice President JD Vance said that negotiations on the war in Ukraine have reached a certain impasse, and the US is considering the possibility of distancing itself from it.
On May 17, russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that a meeting between dictator vladimir putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is possible.
As a reminder, on May 16, the first direct talks in three years between the delegations of Ukraine and russia were held in Istanbul.
