France ready to start discussions on deployment of its nuclear weapons in European countries — Macron

France is ready to start discussions with its European allies on the issue of deploying French nuclear weapons on their territory, following the example of the United States.

French President Emmanuel Macron said this in an interview with the TF1 television channel.

According to him, since the emergence of the nuclear deterrence doctrine in France, the European aspect has always been present in taking into account the vital interests of Paris.

"I proposed to go further. We are ready to open a discussion on the deployment of aircraft armed with nuclear bombs in some European countries," Macron said.

He cited Poland as an example of such countries. Previously, Warsaw had repeatedly stated its desire for the nuclear weapons of allies to be deployed on Polish territory.

Macron also recalled that the United States keeps part of its nuclear arsenal on the territory of some of its European allies.

The French President stressed that in the coming weeks he intends to officially define the limits of the possibility of deploying French nuclear weapons abroad.

At the same time, he named three conditions for the deployment of French nuclear weapons:

"France will not pay for the security of others <...> This will not be taken away from what we need <...> The final decision will always be with the French President," Macron said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March 2025, Sky News reported, citing a US intelligence report, that the aggressor country russia is working on creating a spacecraft with which it will be possible to deploy nuclear weapons in Earth's orbit.

We also wrote that in January 2025, the US began deploying modified aerial bombs equipped with a nuclear warhead in Europe.
