"Complete reboot of relations": Trump announces conversation with Xi Jinping

US President Donald Trump said that he could have a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping by the end of this week - against the backdrop of the trade agreement reached between the United States and China.

He said this at a press conference at the White House on May 12, European Pravda reports.

Trump highly praised the results of the talks between the United States and China, which took place in Geneva the day before, calling them "a complete resboot of relations".

"Our relations are very, very good. I will talk to President Xi - maybe at the end of the week", he said.

The President's statement concerned the agreements reached on May 11 in Switzerland. As a result of the talks, the United States agreed to temporarily reduce import tariffs on Chinese products from 145% to 30%, while China will reduce duties on imports from the United States from 125% to 10%. The parties also decided to create a "mechanism for continuing discussions on economic and trade relations."

As a reminder, the White House announced the conclusion of a trade agreement with China.
