Zelenskyy on parade in moscow on May 9: it will be parade of cynicism
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the parade in moscow on May 9 a parade of cynicism. Zelenskyy said this in an address on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II 1939–1945, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Zelenskyy noted that on May 8, Ukraine, together with the whole world, celebrates the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism. He recalled that three years ago, on Independence Day, there was a "parade" of burned russian military equipment on Khreshchatyk, according to him, only such a parade can bring evil to Ukraine.
According to Zelenskyy, every May 9 in the aggressor country of RUSSIA, a "parade of fear" is held on Red Square.
"Tank columns, marching boxes of murderers, disguised extras, half-dead faces who will look down on this march. A sect called "We Can Repeat It." You repeated it. You repeated all that evil. Ukraine saw it. The whole world saw it," he said.
Zelenskyy called the parade in moscow on May 9 a parade of cynicism.
"Tomorrow, the organizer of the mass graves in Bucha will speak about the atrocities of the Nazis. And those who organized the blockade of Mariupol will speak about the blockade of Leningrad. There will be a parade of cynicism. You simply cannot call it anything else. A parade of bile and lies. As if not dozens of allied states, but putin personally defeated Nazism. As if he raised the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in Berlin with his own hands," he said.
Zelenskyy added that, thank God, Ukraine has emerged from this whole quagmire and has not forgotten that 80 years ago, dozens of nations fought against Nazism and more than 8 million Ukrainians were killed in this fight.
He also called another proof of the gap between Ukrainians and russians that "for them, the idol is a grandfather on Red Square, who took the lives of millions," while for Ukrainians, it is the heroes who defend the country.
Zelenskyy emphasized that it is impossible to appease evil, we must fight it together, resolutely, with force, pressure, on the battlefield, in the diplomatic arena, in the economic space, wherever it is possible to truly "never again," or the world will have to conduct denazification and demilitarization of russia.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May 2023, the Verkhovna Rada canceled the celebration of Victory Day on May 9 and established May 8 as a holiday - the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.
Zelenskyy called the initiative of the leader of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin, to declare a three-day ceasefire from May 8 to 10 a theatrical production to create an atmosphere of russia's exit from isolation, and instead insists on a 30-day ceasefire in accordance with the strategy proposed by the United States.
