US Department of State explains statement on possible withdrawal of US from peace talks

The US Department of State spokeswoman Tammy Bruce commented on the spread of news about her statements, publishing a clarification on her page on the X network.

“There’s a lot of fake news about my comments. Here is the truth: As SecRubio (Marco Rubio, - ed.) has said, if there is no progress on talks between russia and Ukraine toward a concrete solution, the United States will take a step back as mediator. If and when that happens will be a decision of the President. We are pushing both parties to deliver real progress,” she wrote.

On Fox News on Friday, Bruce also emphasized the White House's position on ways to end the war: "We've noted this: the President and the Secretary of State have repeatedly stated that there is no military way to win this war. We will not return Ukraine to the borders of 2014 and earlier. This is where both sides will have to compromise and the world agrees with this - this war must end. But in reality, it should be a decision of the parties themselves who are ready for such a settlement."
