Large-scale protests against Trump's policies take place in US
On April 19, protests against the actions of the Donald Trump administration took place in many US cities. The initiative, called "50501" - "50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement", symbolically coincided with the 250th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War. Participants held posters with the slogan "No kings", hinting at the reluctance to return to authoritarianism.
This is reported by the Associated Press.
In the suburbs of Boston, protesters took part in reenactments of the battles of Lexington and Concord. One of the participants, Thomas Bassford, noted that he wanted to show his grandchildren the origins of American democracy and the importance of the fight for freedom.
In Boston, another demonstrator, George Bryant, said that he was concerned about the trend towards the establishment of a "police state". He held a poster with the inscription: "Trump's fascist regime must go now!".
In Denver, hundreds of people gathered outside the local Capitol building in support of immigrants. "Hands off" posters and inverted US flags symbolized a protest against deportations and the general state of affairs in the country.
Demonstrations also covered New York, Portland, San Francisco and Anchorage. Several thousand people gathered in Portland, and calls for impeachment were heard in San Francisco.
Separate actions were planned near Tesla car dealerships - protesters opposed Elon Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) due to his participation in the reform of the federal management system, which involves massive layoffs of government employees.
These protests were a continuation of large-scale nationwide demonstrations that took place only two weeks ago. Recall, on April 6, about 1,200 demonstrations were organized by Americans. The current protests may become the most massive actions against Trump.
