Ukraine to receive about USD 3 billion from Japan

Ukraine will receive about USD 3 billion from Japan.

This is indicated in a statement by the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Nakagome signed an Agreement in the form of an exchange of notes.

It provides for the provision of a loan to Ukraine of up to JPY 471.9 billion (about USD 3 billion).

The funds are part of the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) mechanism of the G7 countries with a total volume of about USD 50 billion.

The loan will be serviced and repaid at the expense of future profits received from immobilized russian sovereign assets.

Financing is provided for 30 years.

The funds attracted will be used to support priority budgetary needs and promote the reconstruction and development of Ukraine.

Over the past three years, Japan has already provided budget support to Ukraine in the amount of more than USD 8.5 billion.

These funds have become critically important for supporting the country's economic and financial stability.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December 2024, Ukraine received about USD 1.2 billion from Japan through World Bank projects in the social, medical, business support, reconstruction, and education sectors.
