Rada wants to reduce prosecutors' pensions

The Verkhovna Rada, on its second attempt, adopted a bill on prosecutors' pensions in the first reading.

Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a Member of Parliament from the Holos faction, announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

239 parliamentarians voted for bill No. 12278 as the basis, with the minimum required 226.

The bill provides for the unification of the conditions for the appointment and recalculation of pensions for prosecutors, establishes general rules for their payment, and also defines restrictions for receiving pensions while holding certain positions.

In particular, it is stipulated that pensions for long service to prosecutors will be paid only after dismissal from positions that give the right to the corresponding pension provision. In case of continuation of work in such positions, the payment will be terminated.

The draft also takes into account social exceptions - pensions will continue to be paid to persons with disabilities of groups I and II, participants in hostilities, and other specified categories.

The Cabinet of Ministers will be instructed to develop legislative proposals by December 2025 on the unification of remuneration for prosecutors, including the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada refused to introduce pension payments for long service to prosecutors only after their dismissal.
