Azov and Khartiia become army corps

The National Guard of Ukraine has created two new military corps. One of them was created on the basis of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade ‘Azov’. The second corps was created on the basis of the 13th Operational Brigade of the NGU ‘Khartiia’ (Charter).

The commander of the National Guard, Oleksandr Pivnenko, reported this in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

The newly created corps will be headed by the commander of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade ‘Azov’, Colonel Denis Prokopenko (Redis) and the commander of the 13th Operational Brigade of the NGU ‘Khartiia’, Colonel Ihor Obolienskyi (Cornet).

"The corps system will significantly improve communication between the military and make the army more effective. The reform takes into account the experience of the war with the Russian Federation, in particular the need for rapid maneuvering, resistance to enemy attacks and the ability to hold large territories and conduct counterattacks. The corps structure should increase the flexibility and stability of the troops and units of the National Guard, in particular those involved in performing tasks at the front," Pavlenko said.
