It's terrible, they made a mistake: Trump responds to russia's strike on Sumy

US President Donald Trump has commented on russia's missile strike on the city of Sumy, which took place on Palm Sunday and claimed the lives of at least 34 people. The US President called the attack "terrible" and said that he was told that the strike was allegedly a mistake.

This is reported by CNN, Reuters and Fox56news.

During a conversation with reporters on board Air Force One, Trump said: "I think it was terrible. And I was told they made a mistake. But I think it's a horrible thing."

He did not specify who exactly informed him about the russians' "mistake". However, the former US president once again stated that a full-scale war in Ukraine would not have happened if he had held the position of head of the White House.

"I think the whole war is a horrible thing. I think, for that war to have started, is an abuse of power. This country would have never allowed that war to have started if I were president. That war is a shame," Trump said.

Asked what exactly he meant by russia's "mistake," Trump repeated: "They made a mistake. I believe it was — look, you’re gonna ask them."

The russian strike on Sumy, which fell on Palm Sunday, killed dozens of people and injured many more. The strike caused significant damage to the city's residential infrastructure.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 13, russian terrorist forces launched two ballistic missile strikes on the city center of Sumy. The State Emergency Service reported that after 6 p.m., the death toll in Sumy had risen to 34.
