Zelenskyy discussed with Trump possibility of Ukraine purchasing additional air defense systems

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during a conversation with US President Donald Trump, they discussed the possibility of Ukraine purchasing additional air defense systems.

Zelenskyy said this in his traditional evening address to Ukrainians.

According to him, Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense system. Foreign partners have the means it needs, but a political decision is needed for this.

"A political decision is needed for the air defense to work, to work here, in Ukraine: Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa and many other of our cities and our communities," Zelenskyy said.

He added that he discussed this during a conversation with Trump. Ukraine is not asking, but is ready to buy additional air defense systems.

On April 11, President Zelenskyy visited Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk Region, which was hit by a ballistic missile on April 4 by the occupiers.

As a reminder, the missile attack killed 20 people, including nine children. More than 70 people were injured and traumatized.
