Russians striking Zaporizhzhia Region with Shaheds with thermobaric warhead – South Defense Forces
Russian troops are using Shahed-type drones with thermobaric warhead on the civilian infrastructure of the city of Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia Region.
The spokesman for the Defense Forces of the South Vladyslav Voloshyn has stated in a comment to Suspilne, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"This is such a type of weapon – a thermobaric shell explodes and sets fires. Shahed can carry up to 50 kilograms of charge. That is, the Russian army is deliberately using this type of weapon precisely on residential areas, on civilian buildings. This is open and actual terrorism," the military said.
Voloshyn also reported that on the Orikhiv axis, russian troops are attacking Ukrainian positions near Mali Shcherbaky.
"Russian troops are trying to advance to Mali Shcherbaky, take control of part of the territory and the logistical route that runs from Stepove to Mali Shcherbaky. Over the past day (March 27), they have slightly increased the number of artillery shelling and strikes by kamikaze drones. And not only on the positions of the Defense Forces, but also on settlements located near the line of combat contact," said the spokesman for the Defense Forces of the South.
Meanwhile, on the Huliaipole axis, the occupiers have intensified assault actions near Vilne Pole and Novopil.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 26, the russian occupiers shelled the Zaporizhzhia Region 400 times, causing the destruction of residential buildings in 12 settlements, but civilians were not injured.
On the night of March 25, russian troops carried out a strike with kamikaze drones on the Zaporizhzhia District. As a result of the attack, two people were injured, residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged.
