4 missing NATO soldiers found dead near Belarusian border – media

Four American soldiers who went missing during NATO exercises in Lithuania have been found dead near the Belarusian border, Delfi and The Sun reported on Wednesday, March 26.

The four Americans went missing during exercises at the Pabradė training ground on Tuesday evening, after which Lithuanian and foreign military personnel, as well as helicopters from the A Lithuanian ir Force and the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service, launched a large-scale search for the soldiers. According to media reports, the missing men's vehicle was found in a swamp, and they themselves were found dead.

"A possible scene of the incident was established on Wednesday, and a search and rescue operation was conducted under the leadership of the Lithuanian Armed Forces with the involvement of additional capabilities from the Fire Protection and Rescue Department and other agencies," the report said.

The incident was also confirmed by the US Army Europe and Africa Command. According to these reports, the missing servicemen were from the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division and were conducting planned tactical exercises.
