Defense Ministry plans to purchase 4.5 million FPV drones in 2025
In 2025, the Ministry of Defense plans to purchase 4.5 million FPV drones.
The Ministry of Defense has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The capabilities of the domestic defense industry in 2025 are approximately 4.5 million FPV drones. And the Ministry of Defense plans to purchase them all," said the director of the procurement policy department of the Ministry of Defense, Hlib Kanievskyi.
It is noted that this year the Ministry of Defense will allocate more than UAH 110 billion for the purchase of drones, in particular, more than UAH 102 billion through the Defense Procurement Agency. According to Kanievskyi, all procurement plans for 2025 have received budget funds, which will allow the front to be saturated with unmanned aerial vehicles as soon as possible.
Kanievskyi noted that in 2024, the Ministry of Defense, together with the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, purchased more than 1.5 million drones. According to him, 96% of this amount was paid to Ukrainian manufacturers and suppliers, which had a positive effect on the development of the Ukrainian UAV production industry.
Kanievskyi added that the production of drones at one of the state-owned enterprises will have a positive impact on competition, minimal markups and control by the ministry at all stages of production may encourage other manufacturers and suppliers to reduce prices.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February the Ministry of Defense reported that in 2025, more than UAH 44 billion will be allocated for the purchase of FPV drones, in particular on fiber optics.
