In Germany, russian sentenced to life in prison for murder of 2 Ukrainian soldiers undergoing treatment
In Bavaria, a russian was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of two Ukrainian soldiers who were in the country receiving treatment for injuries received in the russian-Ukrainian war.
This was reported by ntv.
Thus, the court ruled that the 58-year-old russian was guilty of a particularly serious crime, which means that early release is practically impossible, a court spokesman said.
It is indicated that both Ukrainians were being treated for wounds received in the war at a clinic in Murnau.
At the beginning of the trial in the murder case in February, the defendant confessed to the murder of a 36-year-old and a 23-year-old men in late April 2024.
The three were reportedly well-known and often met to drink together - including on the day of the murder, when they met in the center of Murnau.
According to the court, an argument broke out between them, and the 36-year-old also insulted the 58-year-old. After that, the russian went to his apartment, took a knife and stabbed the Ukrainian several times in the neck from behind. The defendant then stabbed the 23-year-old five times to cover up the first crime.
In its indictment, the prosecutor's office suggested that the russian acted out of exaggerated nationalism and hatred of Ukrainians. However, the court did not find a political motive proven. It is alleged that despite their different attitudes to the war in Ukraine, the three men "understood each other before the argument".
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a conflict broke out in the Czech capital Prague between a tram driver and a family from Ukraine. The driver insulted the couple and even hit the man, allegedly because their son was standing on the seat wearing shoes.
