Poroshenko and Tymoshenko confirm secret conversation with Trump representatives

Ukrainian MPs Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko did indeed have a secret conversation with US representatives, but they claim that it was not related to the elections.

Opposition politicians announced this on social networks.

Petro Poroshenko said that his team "has always been and is categorically against elections during the war." He added that elections are possible only after a ceasefire and the signing of a peace agreement that takes into account security guarantees. At the same time, he confirmed the very fact of the conversation and said that he even offered to "coordinate these meetings with the authorities, up to and including inviting the ambassador to them."

"After that, martial law will obviously end. And no later than 180 days, free, democratic elections must be held in the country, which will ensure the expression of the will of citizens and the trust of the free world," Poroshenko said.

Yulia Tymoshenko confirmed that she is also ready for negotiations with the US, but that holding a vote "is out of the question."

Recall that Politico, citing its own sources, reported on negotiations between members of Donald Trump's team and Zelenskyy's political opponents. The publication claimed that the parties allegedly discussed elections after a temporary cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.
