3 Ukrainian companies enter world's top of largest polluters
Three Ukrainian companies – DTEK, Naftogaz and Metinvest entered the world's ranking of the largest polluters.
The press service of the Carbon Majors research organization has reported this.
DTEK turned out to be the largest air polluter in Ukraine. In the world ranking, it is 128th position out of 169 possible. Naftogaz is in 139th place, and Metinvest is in 159th.
The shares of the above Ukrainian companies are from 0.04% to 0.12% of global carbon dioxide emissions in 2023.
However, this is dozens of times less than that of the largest world polluters - Saudi Aramco, Coal India, China Energy, National Iranian Oil Company, Jinneng Group, Gazprom, China Cement, Rosneft, China National Petroleum Corporation and Shandong Energy.
It is noted that if Saudi Aramco were a country, it would rank 4th in the world in terms of emissions, behind only China, the United States, and India. ExxonMobil's emissions are compared to those of Germany, which ranks 9th in the world.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, carbon dioxide emissions in Ukraine increased by 180 million tons due to a full-scale war with the aggressor country russia.
