The teams of Ukraine and the US are in the final stage of negotiations on the minerals agreement.
This was announced by the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration - Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna on the social network X, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The teams of Ukraine and the US are in the final stage of negotiations on the minerals agreement. The negotiations were very constructive, almost all key details have been agreed. We are striving to complete them quickly in order to proceed to the signing of the agreement. We hope that the leaders of the US and Ukraine will be able to sign and approve it in Washington in the near future to demonstrate our commitments for decades to come," she said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 23, during the forum Ukraine. Year 2025, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, noted that the agreement with the US on Ukrainian minerals is in a normal working process, it may last months. Leaving the forum, Yermak said that he is due to hold the next round of negotiations with American partners.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on February 23 that he does not intend to recognize Ukraine's debt to the US of USD 500 billion, which US President Donald Trump insists on, and which is provided for in one of the draft US-Ukraine agreements on minerals.
