Agreement with US is in normal working process, it may last for months - Yermak

The agreement with the US on Ukrainian minerals is in a normal working process, it may last for months.

This was stated by the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, during the forum Ukraine. Year 2025, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Of course, today we consider investments, primarily American investments, European investments in general in our country and in minerals, in their exploration, in their extraction as a certain element of security guarantees, which is very important, which can certainly work in the general structure of security guarantees of the military and others, but this is very important and therefore we certainly continue this dialogue with our partners so that there are no others there... No one refused anything, we have a normal working process, and it can always last a day, it can last months. But believe me, the agreement that we believe can appear, it must meet the national interests of Ukraine and must, of course, be interesting for our partners. We are working on this," he said.

At the same time, Yermak, leaving the forum, reported that he should have the next round of negotiations with American partners.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine and the United States are working together to finalize the minerals agreement this week.

On February 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, regarding the draft agreement on Ukrainian rare earth minerals that was given to Ukraine by the United States and which he refused to sign, noted that the document was clear only in that Ukraine must give up 50% of what is listed in the document. Zelenskyy also stated that the agreement on Ukrainian rare earth minerals should contain security guarantees from the United States.
