Trump-putin meeting: Rubio names factors that determine date
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the possibility of a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and russian president vladimir putin depends on achieving results in ending the russian-Ukrainian war.
Reuters reported this.
According to Rubio, "there isn't going to be a meeting until we know what the meeting is going to be about." He discussed this issue with russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a visit to Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge , Rubio noted: "Typically, you don't hold these meetings until you know about some result or have achieved some progress.
He emphasized: "I think when that meeting happens will largely depend on whether we can make any progress on ending the war in Ukraine."
Rubio also believes that the meeting should seal the deal and added that everyone should celebrate that President Trump is a peacemaker.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the private plane of Donald Trump's aide Steve Witkoff landed in moscow. The official's visit was not announced in advance.
Meanwhile, The Economist published a new issue of its magazine, depicting U.S. President Donald Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin on its cover.
