Zelenskyy opens new building of Ukrainian Embassy in Türkiye
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy opened a new building of the Ukrainian Embassy in Türkiye in Ankara. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Today, together with the first lady, we officially opened a new building of the Ukrainian Embassy in Ankara. The project was approved back in 2019, and the walls of the embassy were erected as cooperation between our countries grew. It is very symbolic that the new embassy reflects a virtually new level of our strategic partnership," he noted.
In turn, the Office of the President reported that the embassy, which was opened today in Türkiye, is the first built abroad during the full-scale russian aggression.
"This project was launched back in 2019, when the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, was the Ambassador of Ukraine to Türkiye. Construction began in 2021, and despite the war, the President instructed to complete it, because this is an important contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-Turkish relations," the report says.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye on an official visit on Monday evening, February 17.
In October 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 126 million for the construction of the Ukrainian Embassy complex in Türkiye. The construction of the Ukrainian Embassy complex in Türkiye was planned to be completed in 2022.
