Germany ready to supply Taurus missiles to AFU after elections, but there is condition - candidate for Germany’s Chancellor post Merz

The leader of the CDU and the most likely candidate for Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz announced his intention to change Berlin's policy regarding the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces after the elections.

Merz said this in response to a question at the Munich Security Conference, the portal of the Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

"My position and the position of my faction have always been clear," he said, emphasizing his readiness to supply not only missiles.

"My personal position is to increase the supply of European weapons to Ukraine," Merz added.

However, he emphasized that the start of the supply will be preceded by negotiations between donors to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is significant that he crossed out the USA from among the participants in these consultations.

"We must be ready to supply, but only if we agree with our European partners, and here I am talking about Britain and France (which also have long-range missiles) on the division of roles," said the likely future Chancellor of Germany.
