40,000 citizens apply to army recruitment centers over year, 8,000 begin registration for military service – Defense Ministry
Over the year of operation of the Ukrainian army recruitment centers, almost 40,000 citizens received consultations there, 8,300 of them began registration for military service.
The Ministry of Defense has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Since the start of the army recruitment centers in February 2024, 39,488 citizens have received consultations, 1,371 of them – during the past week. Already 8,300 people have started the process of registration for military service. Soon they will join the ranks of Ukrainian defenders," the message says.
The Ministry of Defense notes that 20% of candidates are women.
Today, more than 10,000 vacancies are open in various military formations, the greatest demand is for: UAV operators, drivers, and rifle specialties.
Currently, there are 48 recruiting centers in Ukraine, mostly located in the premises of ASNs, of which 47 operate offline. Residents of the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia Regions and the city of Kyiv are the most actively applying.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the recruiting center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the most popular request from brigades today is for vacancies for UAV operators and psychologists.
In January, the Ministry of Defense announced an increase in interest in recruiting.
In February 2024, a pilot project for recruiting into the army was launched in Lviv.
