US Congress proposes to increase Pentagon budget by USD 150 billion
The U.S. Congressional Budget Committee has initiated an increase in the Pentagon budget by USD 150 billion.
This is reported by the Breaking Defense portal.
Currently, the U.S. defense department's budget is already about USD 900 billion.
The proposed bill states that these additional funds are needed to maintain combat readiness, build up the Navy, as well as modernize nuclear systems and create an integrated US air and missile defense, an initiative initiated by President Donald Trump, calling it "Iron Dome for America".
The new budget resolution, released by the chairman of the Budget Committee, Senator Lindsey Graham, begins a separate process for the Senate and House of Representatives, as the two legislative bodies argue over how best to implement President Donald Trump's policy program.
