Trump threatens putin with "high taxes and sanctions" if russia does not end war
US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose "high taxes, tariffs and sanctions" on russia and its allies if it does not stop its invasion of Ukraine.
He wrote about this on the social network Truth Social, The Guardian reports.
The post appeared after Trump failed to fulfill his campaign promise to end the war in the country within 24 hours of taking office.
"I don't want to hurt russia. I love the russian people, and I've always had a very good relationship with president putin - and this despite what the radical leftists say about russia, russia, russia. We must never forget that russia helped us win World War II, at the cost of nearly 60,000,000 lives. Given all of this, I'm going to do russia, whose economy is collapsing, and president putin a very big favor," he wrote.
Trump threatened that if russia doesn't make peace with Ukraine now, "it's only going to get worse."
"If we don't make a 'deal', and soon, I will have no choice but to impose high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on everything russia sells to the United States and other countries. Let's end this war that would never have started if I were President! We can do it the easy way or the hard way - and the easy way is always better. It's time to 'make a deal'. No more lives must be lost!!!" the President stressed.
Recall, according to the WSJ, Trump instructed Kellogg to end the war in Ukraine in a hundred days.
