Lending to economy decreased in December, businesses repaid hryvnia loans and took foreign currency loans
According to the National Bank's operational data, the volume of loans issued by commercial banks to the corporate sector and individuals decreased by 1.4% in December to UAH 1,105.914 billion.
This is stated in the National Bank's report, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In 2024, the volume of loans in the economy increased by 10.8% from UAH 997.877 billion.
The volume of hryvnia loans to legal entities decreased by 2.4% to UAH 566.456 billion in the reporting month.
The volume of loans issued to businesses in foreign currency increased by 1% to UAH 252.943 billion.
The volume of loans issued to the population decreased by 1.5% to UAH 273.437 billion in the reporting period.
Interest rates in December on hryvnia loans for businesses increased by 0.3 pp to 14.7%, for the population - by 1.1 pp to 34.1%.
On foreign currency loans, rates for businesses were 6.3%.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2023, the volume of loans in the economy decreased by 1% from UAH 1,007.648 billion.
In 2022, the volume of loans in the economy decreased by 3.5% from UAH 1,044.049 billion.
In 2021, the volume of loans in the economy increased by 10% from UAH 948.386 billion to UAH 1,043.694 billion.
