"He's too strong for me," russian boxer denies rumors about fight with Usyk
Absolute world light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs), who has both russian and Canadian citizenship, commented on rumors about a possible fight with Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), who holds the WBC, WBO and WBA heavyweight titles.
He did this during a broadcast on Fight Hub TV.
Beterbiev assured that there will be no fight with the Ukrainian, if Usyk continues to compete in the heavyweight division.
"There will be no fight with Usyk. He's too strong for me, because he competes in the heavyweight division. If he returns to my division, I can enter the ring with him. But not in the heavyweight division," Beterbiev noted.
The boxer also added that, in his opinion, there are very few star fighters in heavyweight.
"I'm sorry that there are no famous boxers in heavyweight. There are no big names. For example, like in the days of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Now Usyk and Fury are the best in this division," Beterbiev said.
As previously reported, British boxer Tyson Fury decided to end his boxing career after another defeat by Oleksandr Usyk.
