Verkhovna Rada changes procedure for registering 17-year-olds with military
The Verkhovna Rada has changed the procedure for registering 17-year-old citizens of Ukraine liable for military service with the military as conscripts.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a Member of Parliament from the Holos faction, announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
A total of 298 parliamentarians voted for the adoption of bill No. 12076, with a minimum of 226 votes.
It is established that every year from January 1 to July 31, male citizens of Ukraine who turn 17 in the year of registration with the military are registered for conscripts.
According to current legislation, the registration of 17-year-olds with the military is provided for every year during January-March.
The draft law also provides that conscripts can register through the Reserve+ application or by personally arriving at the territorial recruitment and social support center with the submission of the necessary documents.
17-year-old citizens who did not register with the military as conscripts during the required period are taken into military registration of conscripts only after personal arrival at the territorial recruitment and social support center.
During the period of martial law, by decision of the head of a higher military educational institution or the head of a higher education institution with military training units, the period of military training under the reserve officer training program may be reduced by half.
Women who are fit for service by health and age and who have expressed a desire to undergo basic military service, immediately before being sent to undergo such service, upon their application, are taken into military registration of conscripts.
After completing basic military service, women released from military service are, at their request, taken into the military registration of those liable for military service.
In Ukraine, from May 20, a fine for violating the legislation on defense, mobilization training and mobilization in a special period was introduced in the amount of UAH 17,000 to UAH 25,500.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada created a single register of military personnel, which provides for electronic identifiers of military personnel.
