Military personnel ask to extend deadline for voluntary return from unauthorized abandonment of military unit

A Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Holos faction, secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, Roman Kostenko, reported that the military personnel requested to extend the deadline for voluntary return from the first unauthorized abandonment of a military unit without criminal liability.

He told journalists about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to him, a working group was held yesterday with the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, the Security Service of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies and parliamentarians to extend the deadline for voluntary return from the unauthorized abandonment of a military unit without criminal liability.

Kostenko recalled that the corresponding opportunity was introduced in August, but only until January 1, 2025.

"The military personnel came and asked to extend it until March 1, because a certain number of people are returning and they are being placed on support. There are many opinions on this," he explained.

The MP advocates that the opportunity to return without consequences from the unauthorized abandonment of a military unit for the first time be only for a certain period.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine detained and reported suspicion to the commander of one of the companies of the 155th separate mechanized brigade named after Anna Kyivska, who not only left the place of duty without permission, but also incited his subordinates to do so.
