1,358 Ukrainians managed to return from russian captivity over year - Zelenskyy
In 2024, 1,358 Ukrainian citizens, military and civilians, managed to return from russian captivity.
This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Facebook on Friday, January 3.
"These people have different fates, but the same joy - to be home. Each and every one for whom a great team of Ukraine worked," the message says.
The President emphasized that Ukraine is working to ensure that in 2025 there will be even more such good news and returns of Ukrainians from captivity.
"Thanks to the partners who are helping," Zelenskyy concluded.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 30, Ukraine and russia carried out a new large exchange of prisoners. 187 servicemen and two civilians returned home from russian captivity.
Later it became known that during the exchange, eleven servicemen of the 12th Special Forces Brigade Azov, who were captured in the currently occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Region in the spring of 2022, returned to Ukraine.
