Trump understands that it is unrealistic to resolve war issue in 24 hours - Merezhko, Foreign Policy Parliamentary Committee Chair

The newly elected US President Donald Trump is emerging with a more constructive approach towards Ukraine. However, he has realized that it is unrealistic to resolve the issue of war and peace in 24 hours.

This was reported by Oleksandr Merezhko, MP of Ukraine, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, in an interview with OBOZ.UA on Sunday, December 29.

Merezhko noted that he returned from the US capital, Washington, more optimistic. According to him, the transfer of power to the new administration is currently underway and the American domestic political struggle has ended. Merezhko emphasized that Trump's peace plan is already ready or is nearing completion.

"A more constructive approach is emerging, including towards Ukraine. Trump, for example, has realized that it is unrealistic to resolve this issue in 24 hours," the MP said.

Merezhko also stressed that Ukraine is waiting for the visit of Trump's special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, to Kyiv before the inauguration of the US President, who will present a peace plan.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 11, newly elected US President Donald Trump called russia's war with Ukraine a priority problem that he must resolve.

On December 9, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the possibility of ending the war.

As we will recall, on November 15, Zelenskyy said that under Trump, the war in Ukraine would end faster.
