In russia, TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva, who supports Ukraine, sentenced to 6.5 years in prison

The Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced russian TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva in absentia to 6.5 years in prison on charges of "justifying terrorism".

This is reported by russian media.

According to the court, the 58-year-old TV presenter publicly approved drone attacks on russian cities and supported the actions of the Ukrainian military. The trial lasted only one day.

Lazareva's defense insisted on the lack of evidence and demanded that all charges be dropped. However, the court took into account the testimony of two russian citizens, who, according to the investigation, are "active network users". At the same time, the witnesses themselves did not appear at the court hearing.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Lazareva was in Kyiv. After that, she refused to return to russia and repeatedly spoke publicly in support of Ukraine and condemned the putin regime.

Earlier, Rosfinmonitoring included the TV presenter in the list of "terrorists and extremists". In addition, she was assigned the status of "foreign agent".

In one of her last interviews, Lazareva stated her support for drone attacks on russian cities, which became the basis for criminal prosecution. According to russian law, the sentence provides for actual imprisonment if Lazareva appears on the territory of the russian federation.

As previously reported, in the temporarily occupied Crimea by the russians, a Ukrainian was illegally imprisoned and sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security colony in a case of "espionage".
