Russia starts full evacuation of its troops from Syria - media
The Ministry of Defense of the terrorist country of russia has begun the evacuation of troops from Syria. This is indicated by satellite images published by the companies Maxar Technologies and Planet Labs, which were brought to the attention of the portal Vazhnye Istorii [Important Stories].
The images show transport aircraft arriving at the Khmeimim air base, as well as elements of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, which were prepared for shipment to russia. In addition, satellites recorded russian warships leaving the port of Tartus.
The German Ministry of Defense also confirms the start of the evacuation of russian troops from Syria, Bild reports. The Bundeswehr clarified that the russian group has already left the port of Tartus.
The Financial Times, citing satellite images and Ukrainian intelligence data, notes that large transport aircraft - two An-124s and three Il-76s - arrived at the Khmeimim air base to carry out evacuation measures, as well as smaller airliners - three An-32s and one An-72.
The Z-channel “Summary of the Novorossiya Militia” published a video that allegedly shows columns of russian equipment heading towards the Khmeimim air base and the port of Tartus.
On November 27, Syrian rebels launched an offensive from the province of Idlib, and on December 8 they occupied Damascus. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad resigned and fled to russia. After that, the rebels announced the overthrow of the Assad regime.
On December 12, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that russia was close to an agreement with Syrian rebels to temporarily retain its bases. This was later confirmed by TASS sources, who noted that Moscow had received “temporary security guarantees” for its troops from the new Syrian leadership.
However, as Bild writes, these guarantees only concern the safe withdrawal of russian troops, not their continued presence in Syria.
