Defective mines on front. Reason for abnormal operation of large batch of mortar mines clarified
A batch of 120-millimeter mines turned out to be defective due to low temperature and high humidity. The manufacturer is already preparing a new batch to replace the defective one.
Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, has reported this to Suspilne.
"An interdepartmental commission was formed, which included representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Strategic Industry, and representatives of the security and defense sectors. The commission clarified the reasons. A corresponding report of this commission was sent to the Committee on National Security and Development. I cannot disclose the details, but in general, it was found out that the main reasons are low temperature and high humidity. In dry weather, these mines did not cause any malfunctions," the MP explained.
According to him, the entire defective batch has already been recalled, and the manufacturer is to replace the product in the near future. Before that, the mines "will undergo a thorough additional examination."
"I will not name the number of mines. These are all mines from the batch in which the abnormal operation occurred. The number is classified information. The enterprise is already fulfilling its obligations to replace these mines," Venislavskyi noted.
At the same time, he refused to say whether there was a violation in this situation.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early November, Ukrainian servicemen began to complain about defective 120-millimeter mines produced by Ukroboronprom that were delivered to the front. Currently, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has stated that it is investigating the reasons for their abnormal operation.
On November 20, journalist Yurii Butusov published a video in which defenders complain that the ammunition from this manufacturer is of low quality.
