11 people killed and more than 80 injured by missile attack on Sumy
On the evening of November 17, the russian occupiers launched ballistic missiles at a densely populated residential area of Sumy, and at night they attacked the city's critical infrastructure with a missile. As a result of the enemy attack, 11 people were killed, including two children, and 84 people were injured, including 11 children.
The press service of the Sumy Regional Military Administration announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
It is noted that at 8:37 p.m. the enemy launched a powerful missile attack on Sumy.
"Today (November 17), by directing a missile at a densely populated residential area of Sumy, the terrorist state killed 10 residents of the regional center, including a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. Damaged houses, vehicles, broken glass everywhere... Sunday evening for the city became a hell, a tragedy brought to our land by Russia," Volodymyr Artiukh, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, commented on the situation.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified that the enemy hit a nine-story building with a missile.
He expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.
Later, the Regional Military Administration reported that 11 people were killed as a result of the hit into the residential area, and about 70 people were injured, including 10 children.
6 apartment buildings were damaged, 14 cars caught fire.
Rescuers, volunteers and the police worked at the scene of the attack.
Already at night, at 12:10 a.m., the enemy launched another missile attack on the critical infrastructure of Sumy, after which the lights went out in the city.
As a result of this blow, 3 people were injured.
On Monday morning, the Regional Military Administration published detailed data on victims of enemy shelling.
"As a result of the attack by the Russians, 84 people received injuries of varying severity, 11 of them children. 11 people are in intensive care, 6 of them children," the report says.
It is noted that the russians used ballistic missiles with cluster munitions, which have a great striking effect, to hit the city.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 8, the russian occupation army launched a missile attack on the territory of the Sumy community, targeting a critical infrastructure facility.
