Iran vows not to kill Trump - WSJ
Iran's leadership has privately informed the United States of America that it will not plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump.
This is stated in the material of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the text of which is cited by The Independent.
According to the WSJ, earlier in October, Tehran sent a private letter to Washington. It was not signed by a specific Iranian official.
The letter was delivered on October 14. It was a response to a private handwritten warning from US officials that any threats to Trump's life would be treated as an act of war against the US.
The WSJ notes that the promise not to kill Trump contradicts a promise Iran made after the death of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He was killed in an airstrike by the US military in 2020, when Trump was in the White House.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 13, 2024, during a campaign event in Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks opened fire on Trump. One of the bullets passed a few millimeters from his head, shooting through his right ear.
The second assassination attempt on Trump took place on September 15, when the President-elect was leaving his golf club in Florida. Security service agents opened fire first, and the attacker was later arrested.
