China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted to the results of the U.S. presidential election and declared "peaceful coexistence".

This is reported by Radio Svoboda.

"China's policy on the U.S. is consistent. We will continue to develop our bilateral relations based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said when asked how the outcome of the U.S. presidential election would affect China's foreign policy and relations between the countries.

At the same time, the spokeswoman refused to answer questions about how China is preparing for the possibility of raising tariffs on Chinese goods, as Donald Trump had previously promised to do.

On the same date, the Congress was renewed - elections to both chambers were held.
