More than twenty US states ready to send troops to Washington in event of post-election unrest

Authorities in more than twenty American states are preparing to send National Guard units to Washington in the event of mass unrest related to the presidential election.

This was reported by the Associated Press agency with reference to officials from various states.

A representative of the National Guard said that more than two dozen states have expressed their readiness to send military personnel to Washington.

The agency notes that the District of Columbia has not yet made a formal request for troops. At the same time, officials are indeed holding meetings and preparing for the possibility that the Capitol may be engulfed in violence, as it happened on January 6, 2021.

It will be recalled that then a crowd of protesters tried to support the attempts of Donald Trump, who lost to Joseph Biden, to cancel the results of the presidential election. As a result of the clashes, five people were killed, and almost 140 others were injured.

The head of the National Guard Bureau's future operations division, Colonel Jean Paul Laurenceau, told reporters earlier that it was unclear at this time how many troops would be needed or requested this year.

According to Reuters, National Guard units were placed on alert in Washington, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.

And the states of Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oregon and Wisconsin already have National Guard units.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, today, November 5, presidential election is taking place in the USA. The main candidates for the post of the head of the White House this time are Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

It will be recalled that at the end of October it became known that the American billionaire Bill Gates secretly transferred USD 50 million to the election campaign of Harris, because he considers Trump's arrival in the White House a threat.

We previously wrote that current US President Joseph Biden declared the need to "politically isolate" Trump, as he allegedly poses a threat to democracy.
